Carol specialises in staff wellbeing, burnout prevention, school culture and psychologically informed training for workplaces, schools and education settings.
Her interest in staff wellbeing and burnout developed through doctoral research into teacher burnout and self-efficacy. Since then, she has continued to publish and present in this area, with a particular focus on the role of culture, collective efficacy and supportive professional environments.
Carol co-founded the Educational Psychology Service School Staff Wellbeing Project for Northern Ireland’s Education Authority, which trained over 200 schools to develop more supportive approaches to staff wellbeing. She has also provided wellbeing training at Queen’s University Belfast and regularly uses evidence-informed approaches including Appreciative Inquiry, Motivational Interviewing and Solution-Focused Practice.
